Xbox Series X/S Review: Tap Wizard 2

Idle Hands are the Wizard’s Workshop!

Choose your Spells, Perks, and Traits, then let the Wizard do all of the work in this unique Idle RPG! Tap Wizard 2 is a fusion of the Idle, Incremental, ARPG, and Twin-Stick Shooter genres, resulting in a game like no other!

I hadn’t heard of the original Tap Wizard, so was unsure what to expect from the sequel. It’s a game that you can fully control, but also let it do its own thing by leaving it idle and letting your wizard take control until they die.

It’s a roguelike game, so you will die quite early and keep progressing by getting increased powers, stronger runes and you will generally get more accustomed to the mechanics as you go. There’s a nice balance here and the choice of letting it play by itself or intervening is an interesting one. I know idle games are nothing new, but it’s done well here.

The visuals are old-school in design with their pixelated graphics, while having a pretty decent soundtrack to play (or not play) along to. The framerate is solid throughout and the load times are short.

The Verdict

Tap Wizard 2 is an interesting take on an idle game with its roguelike system. It can be highly addictive wherever you actually play it or let it play itself. Definitely worth a look.

Score: 7.0
