PS5 Review: Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip

Can you get Terry into space with his new car?

Terry wants to launch himself into space using his new car. Doing something this cool and reckless will surely make him the talk of the town. Step into Terry’s flip flops in this short and delightfully sweet adventure of self-discovery as he uncovers what it means to be an inhabitant of Sprankelwater. Run, drive and glide through this small journey of big discoveries as Terry works towards achieving this goal.

Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip is quite a random game, it feels a bit like Simpsons: Hit and Run (Which desperately needs a remaster and sequel!) but with very random and unique characters. Missions are dotted about, collectibles are scattered everywhere but the main game should only take you a few hours to get through.

That might seem bad, but considering the small map and general repetitive nature of the game, it feels like the right length and like I said, there’s plenty of collectibles to nab afterwards if you are trying to nab that Platinum trophy.

The visuals have a charming, trippy vibe to them and the written dialogue is pretty funny too. The characters don’t have voice-actors, but make sounds when speaking that sound like Animal Crossing characters or something, which I thought was quite amusing too. There are a few glitches with performance and things like Terry or the car getting stuck on certain areas, while the controls do have a bit of a janky feel…but that feels more intentional.

The Verdict

Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip is a very silly game with some janky controls and tech problems, but it does have a decent level of charm. Despite its issues and length, it is fun and a nice reminder of just how badly we need a Hit and Run remaster…
